The most important thing you and I can do is to read God’s Word daily. The Bible, as I like to call it, is my “instruction book for life.” The Word of God is where I go for encouragement, hope, direction, wisdom, and teaching. The Bible says, “all scripture is inspired by God and is applicable to teach us what is true and help us do what’s right. The Word edifies and builds us up, and God uses it to “prepare and equip his people to do every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

I have disciplined myself to wake up every morning to spend time praying and reading God’s Word before I start my day. It has not always been easy, but I have found that it profoundly impacts my day’s direction. When I spend time with the Lord, I am less likely to get irritated or stressed because I have already received the inner strength I need from being in His presence.

I remember when I was mistreated at work by a co-worker. God led me to the Book of Proverbs to give me guidance and wisdom and showed me how to react to the situation I had found myself in. When I needed hope and encouragement, I flipped to Psalms to get my strength. When I needed to increase my faith, I read Hebrews as a reminder of God’s faithfulness to us throughout the generations. (Romans 10:17).

The Bible is filled with God’s promises. If you need healing for sickness or deliverance from a stronghold, his words are always available to you and me. I want to encourage you; If you have not already set apart some time to read God’s word and pray before the day’s chaos begins, I hope you do so. God is trustworthy, and He can meet your every need. Take time to sit in his presence daily and receive all He has for you. I can promise you that you will be so glad that you did!
